All On Four Technique
If you have badly broken teeth, decayed teeth or compromised teeth due to gum disease, then the All-on-4 treatment would be the right option for you. The All-on-4 was developed to help edentulous patients.
It consists of the rehabilitation of the edentulous maxilla and mandible with fixed prosthesis by placing four implants in the anterior maxilla, where density is higher. The four implants will support a fixed prosthesis with 12 to 14 teeth and is placed right from the day of surgery.
All on four procedure
The All-on-4 treatment concept is a prosthodontic procedure that offers a permanent, screw-retained and same day replacement for upper or lower teeth with a bridge or denture. The procedure works best for patients with teeth loss or decay and for people whose bone loss in the jaw prevents them from getting conventional dental implants.
Most often, tooth loss is accompanied by loss of jaw bone which leads to the problem of reconstruction of the jaw bone requiring bone grafting. The treatment is a good solution thereby avoiding the long procedure of rebuilding bone when conventionally oriented implants are used. In order to carry out this procedure, the bone structure should be good. CBCT scan is the most ideal way to evaluate the bone structure.
The All-On-4 protocol should be performed when at least 4 implants are to be placed in a jaw. The back implants are angled around 30 to 45 degrees from the biting plane. The implant is placed in front of the maxillary sinus in the upper jaw and in front of the mental nerve in the lower jaw.
The following are the few benefits of undergoing All-On-4 procedure:
- No bone graft usually
- Spreading fewer dental implants more towards the back with angulation Dental implants can be placed on the same day
- Not expensive
